Job Description

Cerelia USA has just opened the doors to our new state-of the-art production plant in Whitehall, Ohio and we are hiring! The new facility is dedicated to the retail product portfolio with a specialization in rolled dough (pizza, pie, pastry) and cookie dough.

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring the overall quality and food safety in their assigned areas through the management of regulatory, company, and customer policies, programs and work instructions. Confirm all products meet company and customer specifications. Work closely with other departments in finding the root cause of, and correcting production issues, consumer complaints and completing product dispositions. Participate in programs to sustain compliance and continuously improve in safety, food safety, and quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

This list is not all inclusive, other duties assigned as necessary by management.

Food Safety and Compliance:

  • Perform audits and calibrations to ensure food safety and consistent quality

  • Assist in investigating deviations and consumer complaints.

  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet SQF, regulatory, company, and customer requirements.

  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF System.

  • Work with other departments to implement procedure changes due to corrective or preventive actions issued to resolve deviations due to equipment breakdown, processing deviations, material specifications and consumer complaints.

QA/QC Duties:

  • Timely perform required qualitative and quantitative tests on raw materials, work in progress, and finished products.

  • Maintain accurate documentation.

  • Troubleshoot testing instrumentation malfunctions and assist supervisor with troubleshooting test methodologies.

  • Assist management with validation of manufacturing and production lines and equipment.

  • Initiate escalation process for food safety and quality deviations to management and assist with the RCA.

Health& Safety:

  • Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant.

  • Adhere to EHS policies and procedures and participate on Safety Team Committee.

Requirements

Education and/ or Experience

  • Relevant quality assurance experience, preferably in food manufacturing or an associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred (Quality Assurance, Food Science, Chemistry, etc.).

  • Knowledge of food safety programs, microbiological and sanitation concepts.

  • Experience with regulatory (Kosher, Organic, RSPO, Non-GMO, Gluten Free) concepts preferred.

  • Functional knowledge and use of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook.

Communication and Analytical Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to apply mathematical application to practical situations.

  • Must be organized, detail oriented, possess good troubleshooting skills, and be able to prioritize required work.

  • Ability to critically think in a fast paced and stressful environment.

Other Skills and Physical Demands

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work with extended periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting safely.

  • Ability to interact professionally with honesty and respect towards everybody.

  • Flexibility to work off-shifts, including days or nights, and weekends
