Job Description

Geotemps, Inc. is seeking a Driller Helper for an exploration project in Seward Peninsula of Alaska. The Driller Helper reports to the Project Supervisor/Foreman. The ideal candidate must understand using the correct tools, and experience working as a driller helper. This is a rotation schedule 30/15. Transportation to site will be provided. This is a remote camp position, where housing and food will be covered for employees during their working rotation.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with Rig Setup: Drillers' helpers play a vital role in assisting drillers with rig setup and preparation. They help assemble and disassemble drilling tools, such as drill bits and stabilizers, and ensure they are properly secured to the drilling rig.
Handling Drilling Equipment: Helpers are responsible for handling drilling equipment and supplies during drilling operations. They assist in moving and positioning rods (pipe), casings, and other equipment, ensuring they are aligned correctly for the drilling process.
Supporting Drillers: Helpers also help make adjustments to the equipment as directed by the drillers.
Collecting and Managing Samples: Depending on the project requirements, helpers may be involved in sample collection. They assist in retrieving samples during the drilling process, ensuring proper labeling and documentation. Helpers may also be responsible for organizing and managing the collected samples for further analysis.
Maintaining a Clean Work Area: Helpers are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area. This includes removing debris, managing waste disposal, and ensuring that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored when not in use.
Assisting with Equipment Maintenance: Helpers support drillers in routine maintenance tasks. They assist in cleaning and lubricating drilling equipment, checking for any signs of wear or damage, and reporting maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Helpers may also help with minor repairs under the guidance of more experienced personnel.
Following Safety Procedures: Helpers are expected to always adhere to safety protocols and procedures. They participate in safety training programs, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain awareness of potential hazards on the drilling site. Helpers play an active role in maintaining a safe work environment for themselves and others.

Skills & Qualifications:

Have prior experience or knowledge working with remote sites.
Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to follow detailed instructions.
Commitment to safety protocols
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions and directions.
Ability to successfully complete post-offer background check, reference check, drug screening, and physical
A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Driller helper.

Environmental & Physical Requirements:

Ability to work a 12-hour shift.
Ability to lift and carry 55lbs regularly.
Ability to work in temperatures that range from extreme lows with the potential of inclement weather including snow or rain or high winds.
Ability to constantly walk, push, pull, stand, sit, squat, crawl, kneel, or reach for extended periods of time on muddy, dusty, or uneven ground.
Ability to wear and possess Personal Protective Equipment that includes a reflective vest, steel toed or safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, and hearing protection.
