About the Role 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will assist in various aspects of mechanical engineering projects, including assembly, process documentation, and entry-level CAD design. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment. 

 

This position reports to the Custom Solutions Director. This position is onsite in our Canton Ohio location and has an hourly rate of $18-$19/hour. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Assembly Support: 

  • Assist in the assembly of mechanical components and systems under the guidance of senior engineers. 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and efficient assembly processes. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues as they arise. 
  1. Process Documentation: 
  • Document assembly processes and procedures accurately and comprehensively. 
  • Update existing assembly documentation as necessary to reflect changes and improvements. 
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements in all documentation. 

CAD Design: 

  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create and modify mechanical designs. 
  • Assist in the development of 2D and 3D models, drawings, and prototypes. 
  • Collaborate with engineers to incorporate design changes and enhancements. 

Project Support: 

  • Provide support to engineering projects by conducting research, gathering data, and performing analysis as needed. 
  • Assist in the testing and evaluation of mechanical systems and components. 
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas and insights. 

Communication and Collaboration: 

  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment on project goals and priorities. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Product Development, to achieve project objectives. 
  • Seek guidance and feedback from senior engineers to enhance learning and professional development. 

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering Program, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 
  • Junior or Senior standing preferred. 
  • Strong academic performance. 
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, is desired. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated interest in mechanical engineering through coursework, projects, or extracurricular activities.
