Minimum 5 years experience in extrusion of plastics. B operators need to show strong technical analysis skills, may not have the exact experience but are willing to learn under operator A.
Shifts/hours of operation this is dependent upon labor force available, but we wont swap them back and forth on night or day shift. Right now we are running 7am-3pm shift one, shift 2 is 2pm-10pm. Hour overlap at changeover. Long term we would like to keep this structure and have one more night shift.
Rate of pay starts at $17 per hour with a $39 per hour cap depending on skill level, production volumes, and production quality, and unplanned downtime due to operator error.
Type of machine being operated Extruders, silos, vacuum systems, and other automated sequence machinery.
How much experience is required? - 3-5 years of industrial machinery operation.
Any training offered? On the job training. Operator needs to have their own set of tools.
Tool list-
Complete set of deep and shallow sockets, 1/2" size. mm and metric. every size up to 40mm or 2".
1/2" ratchet
tool box with lock or anti theft prevention
battery powered impact drill
complete set of Hex bolt sockets, 1/2" drive, mm and metric, every size up to 40mm or 2"
all other basic mechanics tools, screwdrivers, pliers, needle nose, crescent wrenches,
basic electrical troubleshooting kit- infrared thermometer, etc.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Operate and manage the extrusion machines to produce plastic products according to specified parameters and quality standards.
Adjust, calibrate, and troubleshoot extrusion machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Read and interpret blueprints and production documents to set up machinery for production runs.
Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of extrusion equipment to ensure proper operation and identify need for repairs or adjustments.
Monitor production for quality and consistency, making adjustments as necessary to meet product specifications and production goals.
Collaborate with the production team to implement process improvements and optimize extrusion operations.
Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities produced, materials used, and any deviations from standard operating procedures.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Train and mentor junior operators and new employees on machine operation and best practices in extrusion processes.
Keep a clean and organized work environment, keep all equipment, electrical cabinets, etc clean and organized as well.
Make sure that all auxillary equipment is operational and at full capacity in order to maintain product quality over long periods of time.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in plastics technology or related field is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating extrusion machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
Knowledge of plastic materials and extrusion processes, including understanding of polymer behavior during extrusion.
Proficiency in reading technical documents and blueprints.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
Willingness to work in shifts and flexible hours as required by production schedules.
