POSITION DESCRIPTION

Taylor Shellfish is one of the largest producers of farmed shellfish in North America.  The company is on the leading edge in sustainable shellfish farming with new techniques and innovative growing methods. 

This is an equipment operator position. This position is Monday–Thursday 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM and is based out of Shelton, WA.

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Conduct daily operations of the rotational molder, which includes cooking, cooling, charging, and discharging molds.
  • Work to develop the most efficient workflows to maximize production.
  • Supervise rotational molder production laborer to optimize oven rotations.
  • Supervise work quality and work ethic of part time crew members who are working the production line to complete surface bags.
  • Work alongside Farm Gear Manager to ensure all crew members are properly trained.
  • Finish floats or other molded products as needed by trimming excess plastic, smoothing rough edges, pressurizing floats to specification and spin welding float seals.
  • Ensure manufacturing quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Responsible for tracking supply inventory and informing Farm Gear Manager when orders must be placed to keep production flowing efficiently.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as outlined by the equipment operation manual.
  • Keep molds clean and in proper operating condition.
  • Keep shop space clean and organized.
  • Maintain appropriate production records.
  • Follow, and ensure all crew members follow all applicable company HR and Safety rules, policies and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other rotational molder operators.
  • Help load finished floats into trucks or trailers for distribution.
  • Work on floating bag production as time permits.
  • May be required to do other tasks as needed.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in equipment operation and production / manufacturing-based positions.
  • Experience using tools such as drills, pneumatic bits, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, at times, with little direction.
  • Excellent communication, verbal/written skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Must maintain positive company morale.
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
  • 40 hours per work week.

 

JOB & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Safety training required.
  • Pass all training relevant to operations.
  • 21 years or older

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk up to 10 hours per shift.
  • The employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat 30 percent of the time.
  • The employee needs to be able to lift up to 60 lbs. (Regularly required to exert up to 20 lbs. or force, frequently required to exert up to 60 lbs. of force, occasionally required to exert up to 125 lbs. of force).
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers.
  • Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
