Our training program will prepare you for a career in operating some of the world’s largest state-of-the-art Hot Isostatic Presses. We are processing parts for the Aerospace, Medical, Energy, Defense, and Firearms industries.


As directed by the Production Supervisor, the Production Lead is responsible for initiating the workflow and training of production employees as directed. Production Lead performs the job duties of HIP General Operator as well. The Production Lead is responsible for keeping the Production Supervisor and Scheduling & Quality Tech(s) informed of production scheduling issues and/or modifications to the production schedule. The Production Lead will work closely with the Scheduling & Quality Tech(s) to develop cycle loads that maximize the HIP vessels capacity. Production Lead is responsible for promoting Safety and adherence to Quality as well as the company Core Values.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for training General Operators as assigned by the Production Supervisor on HIP equipment functionality and support equipment (122, 286, forklifts, overhead crane, chromatograph, Load Elevators, other as assigned/determined.)

· Responsible for working safely and promoting adherence to Stack HIP safety procedures and protocols. Responsible for ensuring General Operators are using proper PPE, have O2 monitors on and in working order, are filling out alternative entry forms, are properly using the atmosphere monitor(s), proper lifting techniques are use, parts are rigged safely using equipment that is in proper working order, and are not performing tasks they are not trained to perform.

· Responsible for promoting productivity of the team, at the direction of the Production Supervisor, by ensuring HIP vessels are loaded to maximize cycle weight to the extent possible, running when loads are scheduled, working with scheduling to modify loads as/when needed, receiving incoming product, unloading and preparing customer shipments.

· Responsible for ensuring forklift and overhead crane pre-use checklists are completed

· Responsible for ensuring daily cleaning schedules are completed and documented

· Responsible for timely communications with Production Supervisor for production related issues (scheduling, equipment, production, staffing)

· Responsible for timely communicating General Operator performance issues (Safety, Quality, Attendance, Training, other)

· Responsible for safe operations of HIP equipment and communicating equipment issues to the Production Supervisor and Maintenance Tech(s) in a timely manner.

· Responsible for approval (date and initials) of Job Card modifications to add or remove product from a Job Card. Responsible for communicating those changes to the following Production Lead or the Schedule & Quality Tech.

· Responsible for working with Schedule & Quality Tech(s) to build loads to allow for continual efficient and effective us to HIP vessels.

· Responsible for the quarantine and Red-Tag of parts that failed a cycle or do not meeting incoming receiving inspection requirements.

· Coordinates the input and removal of parts from quarantine area with Quality Manager or Production Supervisor

· Checks to ensure all parts are certified prior to shipping to customer

· Supports Lean events and initiatives as well as continual improvements

· Supports the selection new equipment, tools, and modifications in support of continuous improvement and cost reduction

· Standing member of the Stack HIP Safety Committee. Responsible for attending monthly Safety Committee meetings. Bringing team safety concerns/issues to the committee and communicating Safety Committee information back to the team.

· Maintains punctual, regular and attendance

· Follows QA and Shop Floor policies and procedures

· Actively demonstrates and promotes Stack HIP and SMG Core Values

· Other duties as assigned



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Does not directly supervise employees. Supports Production Supervisor by performing duties as assigned as detailed above. Responsible for providing objective and specific performance related information to the Production Supervisor as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 3+ years in a production setting with Production Lead level responsibilities overseeing 3+ employees preferred. 2+ years related experience working in HIP, Heat Treatment, and in an AS9100, Nadcap, or ISO9001 certified facility preferred. Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, required. Experience with ERP systems preferred. Experience as a certified Forklift driver preferred, experience using overhead gantry cranes preferred. Experience with maintaining equipment and tools and equipment calibrations preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand various measurement systems and how to convert between them.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift certification, Overhead Crane (gantry) certification, First Aid/First Responder training required and can be provided by Stack HIP or other contracted and certified entity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SAFETY & TRAINING

Safety is of critical importance and is our priority at Stack HIP. Employees will participate in all safety training as required such as Fire Extinguisher, Confined Spaces, Evacuation and Emergency Meeting Point, Overhead Crane Operation, equipment operation, and other safety training as required. Employees will use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for job duties. Training for PPE such as respirator use is required before use, and will be provided to employees as appropriate. In no instance shall an employee perform a task or use equipment they have not been trained to use or operate. In no instance shall an employee use equipment, tools, or PPE in an unsafe manner. If PPE is broken or worn out, the employee is responsible for notification of the Production Lead to obtain replacement PPE that provides intended protection.
