Material Handler - HI-LO Driver

The Company is a fifth generation, family-owned business. We are seeking a qualified, certified Hi-Lo Driver for first shift for our manufacturing operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate forklift and hand cart equipment to move materials through Receiving, Manufacturing, and Shipping departments
• Ensure safe transit of loads, loading and unloading trucks
• Work from production schedules to proactively plan required material movements
• Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of Lean Manufacturing processes (i.e. 5S, kaizen, kanban, value stream mapping)
• Organize materials in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner
• Record inventory transactions in ERP system
• Communicate and work with Lean Materials Specialists to determine material movement activities.
• Participate in cross training activities
• Recognize material defects and stock levels
• Segregate and prepare required materials for shipment to satellite facilities
• Replenish lab stock and complete inventory transactions for lab stock requirements
• Participate in cycle counting and physical inventory
• Operate baler equipment and maintain baler room area, scrap, and recycle trailers
• Evaluate materials for required documentation, defects, and potential environmental hazards
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Problem solve concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
