Driver/Material Handler

We are seeking a dependable Driver/Material Handler to support daily operations across this company's Milwaukee facilities. This role is responsible for transporting leather between buildings, loading and unloading incoming and outgoing shipments, and keeping materials moving efficiently through the plant. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and comfortable working in an industrial environment. Don't miss this direct hire opportunity.

Driver/Material Handler Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Drive company vehicles to transport leather, chemicals, and supplies between facilities throughout the workday
  • Move tables of leather and other materials between buildings and production areas
  • Coordinate transport schedules with production and shipping teams to keep material flowing on time
  • Perform basic vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs
  • Load outgoing shipments onto carrier trucks, ensuring proper palletizing, wrapping, and securement of leather
  • Unload incoming shipments of raw materials, chemicals, and supplies; verify counts and inspect for damage
  • Stage inbound and outbound materials in designated areas for production or carrier pickup
  • Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts to move materials safely
  • Maintain a clean and organized dock and staging area
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies, including proper handling of chemicals and materials
  • Assist with other operational tasks as assigned by management
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors about transport issues, delays, or material concerns
Driver/Material Handler Requirements:

- Valid driver's license - Ability to lift and move 50+ pounds regularly, including handling tables of leather - Comfortable working in a manufacturing/industrial environment (exposure to chemicals, wet conditions, heat, and humidity) - Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision - Strong work ethic and willingness to pitch in wherever needed - Forklift certification or willingness to obtain preferred - Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial setting preferred - Bilingual English/Spanish a plus - Frequent driving between facilities throughout the workday - Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of leather and materials weighing 50+ pounds - Work performed both indoors (manufacturing floor, dock areas) and outdoors in all weather conditions - Standing, bending, and physical activity for extended periods - Exposure to leather processing chemicals, wet conditions, and industrial machinery
