Van-Am Defense Systems, located in Waverly, IA, is a trusted manufacturer committed to delivering exceptional products and services. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, we are seeking candidates for a dedicated and skilled CDL Driver/Material Handler to join our team.

As a CDL Driver/Material Handler, you will be essential to our logistics and supply chain operations. This role includes the safe and efficient transportation of materials, equipment, and products, along with material handling and inventory management tasks. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

This position is Monday โ€“ Thursday, 6:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

As a CDL Driver/Material Handler, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining commercial vehicles while ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations. You will transport materials and products to designated locations efficiently and on time, while also loading and unloading materials to ensure proper handling and secure transportation.

Your role will involve conducting vehicle inspections before and after trips, performing basic maintenance checks, and promptly reporting any issues. You will assist with material handling tasks such as organizing, labeling, and maintaining inventory, while also completing the required paperwork and documentation for trips and material movements.

Clear communication with coworkers and clients will be essential to ensure smooth operations, and you will be expected to promote and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including vehicles and warehouse spaces, will also be part of your daily responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record. You should have a strong knowledge of safe driving practices and applicable regulations, along with the ability to operate trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles safely and efficiently.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks. Basic computer proficiency is necessary for completing documentation and communicating effectively. Additionally, you must have the physical stamina to lift and carry heavy objects.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, familiarity with inventory management systems and certifications in forklift operation or material handling are preferred.
