Job Summary:

The Marina Operations Manager will be leading daily yard operations and work with the Marina Director in the recruitment, training and success of our Wilson Landing team. You will be leading a team supporting dry storage and boat club member reservations and boat rental guests. You will be involved in team development, guest relations, daily fleet care, and supporting other departments in the marina such as Captains, Mechanics, Reservations and Retail. This role will support fleet management records, decommission, and recommission of vessels, improve marina systems and strategies, minor maintenance projects and guest development efforts. This dynamic position is integral to developing our team and creating happy boaters. Will always ensure a consistently high level of member satisfaction and pride in Wilson Landing.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist with the direction and completion of general marina operational tasks, maintenance projects, and fleet inspection & detail schedules to ensure the marina, fleet, and offices are effective, safe, and clean.
  • Oversee boat preparation including cleaning, system checks, launching, hauling, and moving.
  • Assists in the training and development of the operations team to create a fast, friendly and safe service environment.
  • Assist the Director with performance reviews for operations staff.
  • Create scheduling and directing daily activities and assign specific duties with Operations Team.
  • Assist in cleaning and prepping boats for daily reservations, between reservations, and at the end of each day as well as weekly vessel deep cleanings.
  • Assist Marina Director in developing operating procedures for routine maintenance of all vessels, docks and facilities including mechanical, safety, and cosmetic upkeep and repairs
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all customers on the docks. Meet them at their vehicle, assist in moving personal items to the boat, provide assistance boarding/disembarking, and offer advice as to local waters and local attractions. Then assist members back to their vehicles when they return.
  • Communicate with guests to remain aware of current and future guest needs and to recommend additional services.
  • Maintain and clean club areas including dock boxes, docks, and office areas.
  • Maintain and order replacement parts, cleaning agents, and tools per inventory forms.
  • Will be assigned the “Manager of the Day” (MOD) role on certain days, in which they would be responsible for being the lead point of contact for decisions regarding inclement weather, member issues, or any other daily operational decisions.
  • Open the facility, including but not limited to setting up equipment for daily use and facility maintenance.
  • Close the facility, including but not limited to putting away all equipment, locking doors and setting alarm.
  • Supervises all refueling procedures and ensures that activities in and around the marina conform to club rules.
  • Maintains marina lighting meter and reports any issues to the Marina Director
  • Assist in forklift operations as needed.
  • Assist in operations as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • College graduate or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of experience in the marina industry
  • Good communication skills: interest and ability to clearly understand guest and team members needs as well as effectively communicating your directives and expectations.
  • Ability and interest to be friendly, diplomatic, and polite with guests and team.
  • Outgoing, positive, and supportive outlook, maturity, a strong work ethic, and enjoyment of helping others.
  • Management skills and versatile leader; responsible and accountable for self and for those you lead.
  • Proactive planner and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with up to 25-foot single engine boats, familiar with boating rules and regulations.
  • Boating Safety Certificate and 3 years boating experience
  • Basic mechanical awareness and reasoning
  • Two years of experience operating a marina forklif
  • Strong understanding of boat storage/dry stack facilitie
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint literate
  • Experience with vessel detailing, maintenance, and repairs
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong organization skills, managing projects, schedules and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Will encounter variable outdoor weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather
  • Must be able to lift 75lbs
  • May need to remain standing for extended periods of time
  • Able to work near moving/mechanical parts and on local waterway
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
