Job Description
The Chemical Dependency Counselor II Bilingual (Spanish/English only) is responsible for delivering a range of assessment and intervention services under direct supervision.
This role involves providing consultation to external agencies on problems, assessments, and recommendations for clients. In particular, the Counselor will provide individual case management to clients transitioning from detox centers to residential treatment settings, or in outpatient services.
The Counselor will serve both males and females, and may work with adults or adolescents.
The Counselor will be responsible for diagnosing and treating clients within the range of program services, particularly those requiring chemical dependency treatment. The role also involves providing individual and family counseling, preparing written reports, regular case dictation and summaries for consultation according to program standards and professional ethics, and performing other duties necessary to accomplish objectives. As an advocate for program participants, the Counselor will liaise with courts, schools, treatment centers, and other services to make referrals and conduct follow-ups. The role also requires providing outreach and case management to the primary client.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is mandatory.
- A combination of a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant work experience in chemical dependency counseling is necessary.
- LCDC II or licensure eligibility is required.
- The applicant must have experience in working with adolescents and alcohol/drug assessment and case management, especially if the clients are youth returning from state institutions or are in the juvenile justice system.
- The applicant must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
- The applicant should have a good working knowledge of computers, familiarity with Microsoft Office software, and EMR: Avatar.
- The final applicant will be required to undergo fingerprinting before starting the job.
