REPORTS TO: Director of Interim Housing

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, (8:00am - 4:30pm)

STATUS: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk, Exempt

CELL PHONE: Reimbursement for use

SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $66,560 Annually

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Interim Emergency Housing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing services and operations of the emergency shelter program operating out of the PodShare site. The Emergency Housing Supervisor will provide supervision to a team of direct service workers and case managers operating out of the site. The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of individuals onsite and coordinating with security to ensure that they are conducting regular site rotations. The role will also be responsible for conducting outreach and supporting the case managers in triaging referrals and ensuring that youth are connected to housing and resources. The Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing documentation, completing regular reporting, providing training and coaching, liaising with partner organizations, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of direct service to at-risk populations and trauma-informed care. Specific knowledge or experience related to transitional aged youth experiencing homelessness is a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Provide supportive supervision to a team of direct service workers, serving youth in emergency housing (24 hour location)
  • Ensure that required documentation is being obtained and review case management notes and service plans
  • Ensure that regular case consultations are being conducted to ensure youth safety and that they are making progress towards towards their housing and service plan goals
  • Ensure that onsite activities are being logged, incident reports completed, and nightly bed checks tracked
  • Conduct outreach and triage for referrals, and support case managers with moveins and exits
  • Provide administrative oversight to the emergency housing sites to ensure successful implementation, coordination of services, achievement of program performance measures and evaluation of services provided
  • Assess and resolve programmatic and site needs, including coordinating maintenance and serving as the point of contract with PodShare staff
  • Provide mediation, non-violent crisis intervention as needed, including supporting the discharge process
  • Communicate all relevant information, including incident reporting, to the Program Director and relevant leadership
  • Provide training, coaching, professional development and evaluation to staff
  • Serve as the hiring manager for emergency housing direct service staff, interview and provide comprehensive onboarding
  • Manage on-site and off-site partnerships with external agencies to support effective programming and referral processes
  • Ensure functionality of safety systems, including safety preparedness protocols
  • Educate, network and represent program to local agencies, coalitions, community stakeholders and other organizations
  • Ensure data collection, preparation of monthly reports, and other program administration duties
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of policies and procedures
  • Co-facilitate staff, member, and community meetings and trainings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization


Requirements:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field preferred is preferred.
  • Related work or lived experience will be strongly considered in place of or in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience providing direct services to high-risk transitional age youth is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience providing case management services to high-risk transitional age youth is required.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma informed care, and harm reduction service models
  • Work within legal and ethical guidelines
  • Flexibility with schedule based on program needs
  • Commitment and passion for the mission, vision, values and culture of SPY
  • A self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment that requires effective collaboration
  • A valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to transport youth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Cultural humility

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
  • Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.


COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9, 2021, the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot, proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program. Driver Positions:

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record. Examples of an unsatisfactory driving record include:

  • Suspended or revoked license
  • Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months
  • Any violations, including drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, within the past 24 months
  • Reckless driving, including hit and runs, within the past 24 months
  • At fault accidents, resulting in fatality or serious injury, within the past 5 years
