About the role:

The Team Chairperson will chair meetings and is responsible for completing all required paperwork within appropriate timelines for Individual Education Plans of students as well as referral packets that come to the Collaborative.

Responsibilities:

· Chairs all initial and reevaluation team meetings in compliance with state and federal regulations.

· Chairs meetings to review outside / independent evaluation reports.

· Responsible for completing and/or ensuring completion of all required paperwork and procedures for initials and reevaluations within the appropriate timelines, including distributing evaluation reports two days before meetings to families and other team members.

· Maintains accurate records on all students receiving special education services and monitors special education programs and service delivery in conjunction with building principals.

· Maintain all relevant IEP evaluation statistics and data, and process necessary paperwork as required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

· The Special Education Team Chairperson will assist in the coordination of, and in some cases, may provide staff development and workshops/training regarding special education issues and support teacher development through consultation and lead department meetings.

· Advise Director of Student Support Services and Coordinator of Special Education Services regarding specific case issues pertaining to services and/or placement.

· Be able to facilitate TEAM meetings in an efficient and empathetic manner and ensure development of high quality, student-centered IEPs.

· Ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with staff and families by providing open and honest communication.

· Consults and case conferences with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers and administrators regarding individual student needs.

· Assists in the transition of students across grade levels, programs, and buildings, as well as new students to the school.

· Facilitates the Chapter 688 referral process and application through the EOHHS Virtual Gateway and/or general referrals to adult service agencies.

· Responsible for collaborating and communicating with outside agencies, community entities, and adult services.

· Assists with the collection and analysis of data related to post-secondary outcomes and compliance indicators to DESE state performance plan.

· Contributes to and participates in Child Study/Instructional Support Team as appropriate.

· Participates in BSEA proceedings and other dispute resolution meetings as needed.

· Other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Candidate requirements:

· Master's in education or related field and School Administrator License required.

· At least five years of teaching or related experience required.

Physical

requirements:

· Prolong periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

· Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
