Technical Cinematics Designer

W2 Contract 6 months

Remote, USA

$45-50/hr DOE

We are an online gaming studio looking for a Technical Cinematics Designer. This person performs a critical role in the cinematics pipeline by ensuring all varied components are tightly aligned and functioning as intended to both lay foundation for downstream departments to continue working on cinematics as well as producing a smooth experience for players. Technical Cinematic Designers will become proficient in many disciplines with our proprietary tool set and familiar with a complex pipeline that bridges multiple departments and keeps in close contact with all stakeholders involved with cinematics from start to finish and works to solve incidental issues that naturally arise in production. Technical Cinematic Designers will report to our Tech Art/Design Lead while working closely with environment, layout, cinematics, rigging/animation, and level design.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will touch all parts of our game, including node-based scripting, sequence timeline updates, validating deliverables, and continual testing. The successful candidate has a keen eye for high quality results and is both self-motivated to discover creative solutions as well as capable of close collaboration with other team members.

What youll do as a Technical Cinematic Designer:

Use proprietary node-based scripting to manage when/how cinematics are triggered.

Communicate in technical terms with other departments.

Validate deliverables and sequence completeness.

Integrate cinematics and ensure a smooth transition to/from player control.

Effectively raise awareness of any technical issues and escalate appropriately.

Qualifications:

Experience with node-based scripting

Previous game development experience is preferred.

Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Experience with game engine content tools and pipeline

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks.

Passion for playing games.
