Title: Director of Membership
Reports to: Chief Membership and Strategy Officer
Classification/FLSA Status: Regular, Full Time, Exempt
Location: Hybrid in Greater Jacksonville Area. Occasional travel: Gainesville, Pensacola, Panama City, Tallahassee

Position Summary
The Director of Membership is a leadership position housed in the Membership & Strategy Office, responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive year-round member recruitment and retention plan. The Director of Membership holds oversight of overall membership growth within a designated regional footprint. Additional responsibilities include coaching and supervising membership staff and collaborating across the various functions of the membership office to increase involvement and impact. The Director of Membership works collaboratively across the membership office and cross functionally to achieve the strategic plan, implement the tactical membership growth plan, and meet KPIs in a designated region to cultivates support of the Girl Scout Movement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide supervision, guidance, coaching, and direction to assigned membership team members that supports growth in girl, adult, and volunteer retention and new member acquisition.
2. Strengthen the councils relationship with volunteers through team implementation of regular touchpoints and council-wide process refinement.
3. Create and manage a regional plan of work around lead generation, grassroots recruitment efforts, community volunteer support, member retention, first year troop leader support, innovative program delivery models, and community level engagement.
4. In partnership with the Chief Membership and Strategy Officer, analyze membership trends and other available data points to customize the membership growth plan of work to each designated area.
5. Build strong and collaborative relationships with departmental managers and directors in volunteer experience, girl experience, product program, marketing, and operations.
6. Manage a regional departmental budget to support member acquisition and retention work plans and support membership staff in building financial acumen.
7. Provide high quality customer service by optimizing the use of technology, clarifying desired information, researching, locating, and delivering information in a clear and professional manner.
8. Identify the need for and provide timely problem solving and conflict resolution support and/or intervention with membership team members and/or community leadership team members and volunteers when appropriate.
9. Ensures that recruitment and member retention strategies and plans are consistent with the philosophy and mission of Girl Scouting and the councils overarching strategy.
10. Exemplify strong leadership, team, and personal accountability in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
11. Partner across membership, volunteer experience, placement, community development, girl experience and operational departments to ensure a high level of knowledge and understanding to supervise, coach, and support membership managers in their day-to-day work.
12. Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Recommended Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelors Degree or higher; or equivalent experience with seven years of directly related work experience in a volunteer-based organization or non-profit, member recruitment/acquisition, volunteer management, relationship management, public speaking, management, or a related field.
Five years of managerial experience leading high-performance teams preferred.
Experience in girl and adult recruitment strategy and member engagement, performance and behavioral based coaching, team leadership and management, community cultivation and/or customer retention and excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program, principles, and standards.
Working knowledge in Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Suite platforms, including Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, preferred. Knowledge of Asana project management software a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Bi-Lingual Spanish a plus.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Capability to provide own transportation, travel within assigned region, and maintain valid operator license.
Overnight travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 25% of the time.

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Operate office equipment manually.
3. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
