Compounding Pharmacy Technician

Mills Compounding Pharmacy is seeking a Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our laboratory team. The compounding Pharmacy Technician will be working with cutting edge technology compounding specialized and complex therapies within the clean room environment. In addition, shall assist the registered pharmacist in preparing all sterile and non-sterile compounded medications under direct supervision. All work must be performed in accordance with USP 795/797/800 procedures and company policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform all functions of a Pharmacy Service Representative in order to ensure accurate and prompt costumer service.
• Collect essential patient information required to process prescription orders including refill authorization from doctor offices, data entry into computer, prescriber search, compounded drug generation and selection, prescription interpretation & entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Maintain the pharmacy clean room suite 10 797/800 requirements.
• Preparation and compounding of sterile products
• Assist in inventory management processes including: order review, proper drug disposal, restocking shelves, control log, and physical inventory preparation.
• Documentation of IV admixture and cleanroom suite sterile testing.
• Assist on a daily basis with maintaining the compounding laboratory by keeping it clean and in order in accordance with company regulations.

Experience/Requirements/Qualifications

• Laboratory experience is required.
• Detail oriented individual with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Basic math skills required: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Interested candidate must be capable of doing all calculations for prescriptions including day supply, total quantity, dosing calculations and conversions.
• Excellent customer service skills, along with oral and written skills.
• Ability to competently interact with patients and partners.
• State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required.
• Knowledge of the Rx Dispense system is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years sterile compounding pharmacy technician experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
