Technician

The Nickel Plater is an entry-level Technician, beginning in shipping and receiving department while receiving hands-on training, to learn the Tribocoat technique, which involves applying Electroless Nickel Teflon coating to plate molds and dies to an instructed thickness, maximizing mold performance.

What You'll Do

• Shipping and receiving; assist in areas of package and prep, load, and unload trucks as needed.
• Learn how metals react to corrosives with chemicals; using gained knowledge to understand and predict the reaction, the approximate rate, and potential outcomes.
• Refers to provided Safety Data Sheet (SDS), OSHA regulations, and safety equipment given to ensure safe handling of chemicals.
• Monitors and maintains corrosives by labeling, mixing and maintaining acid tanks.
• Performs titrations to plating bath.
• Uses rate gauge to verify plating thickness.
• Works from supplied data record for each tool and follows direction as instructed on each. Identifies any deviations as tool is plated that could cause issue with desired end results; works with manager and completes legible documentation to correct these deviations as needed. 
• Communicates in an effective and timely manner with any tooling issues to the Production Manager 
• Ensure proper working order and cleanliness of pit areas, work areas and tools. 

What You’ll Bring:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Experience with safe chemical handling and OSHA safety regulations.
• Knowledge in Tooling, Mold-like industries, or similar craftsmanship skills highly valued.
• Able to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions from supervisor.  
• Strong and confident on the go decision making skills. 
• High attention to detail and focus.

Other:

• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs unassisted.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals; moderate noise levels
• Must adhere to wearing proper PPE; including, but not limited to, steel toe/composite safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
• Frequently in or alternating between a stationary, moving and walking position.
