Responsibilities:
 

Team Lead

  • Assists in training and disciplinary action of technical staff under supervision of General Manager and Optometrists. 
  • Supervises technical staff, including preparing and monitoring job duties and performance. 
  • Oversees training of clinical staff, including the immediate supervision of untrained technicians. Completes new hire checklist.
  • Appropriately schedules technical staff in accordance with clinic needs, filling in when necessary; approves time off requests for technical staff.
  • Ensure adequate staffing is available for each provider to maintain optimal clinic flow.
  • Organizes and conducts regular meetings of technical staff.
  • Consults with the General Manager on problems and interpretation of policies to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Plans and organizes in-service training programs on all equipment at the location.
  • Maintains functional knowledge of all technical staff responsibilities.

Clinic Responsibilities

  • Performs patient workups and diagnostic testing as required.
  • Answers patient questions and telephone inquiries, including but not limited to, attaining resolution to patient problems.
  • Make sure that specialized testing and procedures are covered by trained personnel.
  • Be encouraging and sensitive to all staff needs and concerns.
  • Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality by completing safeguarding medical records and by maintaining accuracy of diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Maintain integrity of office equipment and facilitate repair requests in a timely manner.

Patient Flow Management

  • Determines the flow of daily clinics.
  • Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as required.
  • Communicate with the front office to facilitate proper patient flow.

Administrative

  • Ensures all clinic instruments/equipment is functioning properly; troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment; requests repairs and maintenance, as needed.
  • Maintain inventory levels, delegate orders of clinical supplies.
  • Assists management with addressing physician and patient complaints, issues with technical quality or performance concerns.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve departmental processes for productivity and service.
  • Partners with clinical management to plan, manage, and communicate operational changes to technical staff.
  • Promotes a culture of safety by ensuring staff compliance with all established policies and procedures, safety, and infection control.
  • Assists with patient scheduling, check-in and check-out as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ophthalmic Technician experience required
  • COA or COT certification preferred
