SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Disbursement Specialist is responsible for accounts payable, bank deposits, processing bi-weekly payroll, purchase order tracking, assist with month-end closing and financial reports preparation. Position requires AA Degree in business administration, preferred in accounting, and or 2-3 years of experience in a similar position.


DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for accounts payable, month-end accruals and provide information to vendors and employees regarding A/P payments
  • Responsible for cash receipts and deposits
  • Process bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now payroll system
  • Assist with the management of employee benefits
  • Assist with Purchase Order issuance and tracking, office supplies purchases and general office management duties
  • Assists in the coordination of the independent financial, County, and federal audits and preparation of various reports as needed
  • Perform any other duties as requested

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel between different administrative and clinical sites
  • Successful completion and acceptable results of post offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background check
  • Recommended Healthcare Personnel Requirements for vaccinations and preventative testing: Hep B, Influenza, MMR, TDAP, TB, Covid-19

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:

  • A working knowledge of accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting systems
  • General computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Work, Excel, etc.) with fully comprehensive knowledge and skill in spreadsheets
  • Effective communication skills to work with vendors regarding payments
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Solid organizational skills, ability to work under tight deadlines and must be detail-oriented
  • Ability to maintain absolute discretion over highly sensitive Clinic and medical information.
  • Effective oral, listening and writing communications skills; strong telephone skills essential
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages and economic backgrounds

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting associate degree, Finance or Business Administration from a recognized institution of higher learning is required and or 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a health care environment. Experience in a nonprofit environment funded by government contracts is also preferred.

The incumbent in this position may operate any/all of the following equipment:

  • Telephone, cell phone, fax
  • Computer, printer and related equipment
  • Copy machine
  • Calculator/ 10-Key

Computer software may include any or all of the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Accounting software – MIP Fund Accounting
  • Payroll Software- ADP Workforce Now

ENVIRONMENT

The environment for this position is medical clinic administration office that is clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

In the course of performing this work, the incumbent:

  • Will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking and listening
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
