Telecommunications Tax Accountant

The Telecommunications Tax Accountant will research property tax rates and filing processes across multiple states and jurisdictions, working closely with different internal teams, as needed. The Telecommunications Tax Accountant will support the tax research team and may assist with special projects or tax initiatives.
Prior experience with VoIP state and federal legislation and regulations are essential. Flexibility and ability to multi-task and be self-motivated to achieve results are crucial to success.
Essential Functions
- Research sales and property tax rules and regulations
- Work closely with internal fixed assets team
- Maintain accurate and complete property tax records and filings
- Prepare basic to medium complexity tax write-ups and related workpapers
- Ensure compliance with an internal system of standard procedures and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work with tax authorities to obtain advice when additional guidance is required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge of financial accounting and ability to adhere to general accounting principles
- Motivated and organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High standard of personal and professional integrity
- Flexibility and adaptability to assume additional responsibilities and accommodate report requests from management
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience directly related to the key duties of the role
- Experience in multi-state indirect taxes
- A can-do attitude with the ability to work well autonomously and with others
- High proficiency with spreadsheets and other analytical tools
