Staff Accountant - Phoenix
We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our accounting department. The Finance team is expected to work closely with all other departments to
ensure all aspects of business strategies, development, and growth meet desired outcomes. You will also be assisting the Controller as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with the close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining
accounts payable documentation. - Ensuring all invoices/POs are paid within established payment schedule
- Accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Setting up vendors accurately in the accounting software: entering established terms, receiving W9’s, and completing vendor information
- Interacting with vendors and accounting team to obtain accurate general ledger coding information and resolve payables-related problems
- Reviewing accounts payable edits for errors and ensure any necessary corrections are made
- Demonstrating “Service Excellence” in all interactions with internal and external vendors
- Receiving and reconciling vendor statements for all entities on a monthly basis
- Managing vendor relations
- Processing payroll and maintaining employee records
- Sorting and distributing incoming invoices and paperwork on a daily basis
- Processing high volume of invoices and purchase orders
- Creating purchase orders for department purchase requests
- Issuing checks/cash payments in a timely manner consistent with the A/P payment schedule
- Assisting the department in streamlining processes such as finding opportunities to consolidate invoicing, improving the approval process,
or implementing a more automated system - Responding to vendor inquiries and research any aged payables
- Responsible for 1099, W-2, W-9 forms
- Month-end reconciliations, intercompany transactions, journal entry reclassing, and reversing accruals
- Filing and maintaining accounting records and store/transition files at year end
- Assembling information for the external auditors for the annual audit
- Productively provide Senior Accountant with financial information as required
- Processing expense reimbursements
Qualifications:
- Experience and full understanding of inventory valuations and reconciliations
- Experience with payroll processing and compliance
- Full understanding of cash management, accounts payable/accounts receivable, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing month end adjusting journal
entries, and completing 1099’s - Retail accounting experience preferred
- Production accounting knowledge preferred
- Minimum Requirement – Associate Degree in Accounting
