Network Specialist

BreakPoint Labs is currently seeking a Network Technician/Specialist to work on-site at Point Loma. This position will work 2nd shift, 12:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday. This is an opportunity for someone to solidify their career in the network industry. We are looking for a very strong technician who is ready to move into a Specialist role. We offer $5,000.00 annual reimbursement for Education, Training and Certifications in order to assist our employees with building their careers. This position will provide the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) with technical and professional support elements required for the operation of the HPCMP Office (HPCMPO) in all phases of planning and execution of its mission, including: technical and administrative support in all areas of program activity, program management support, meeting facilities and office environment, to include a complete telecommunications and computer systems capability and full logistical services

The position will be responsible for the following:

• Determining company needs and coordinating the development and maintenance of network infrastructures with the IT team.
• Ensuring secure and stable server connectivity and testing network protocols.
• Creating internet domains and optimizing intranet performance.
• Testing data exchange and communication between computers, routers, modems, and servers.
• Designing, maintaining, monitoring, and repairing computer networks.
• Installing network computer and communications equipment, troubleshooting problems, and assisting security specialists to develop more effective security protocol.
• Evaluating new equipment and researching new technologies.
• Maintaining the security of the network infrastructure and recommending network improvements
• Responding to our customer’s needs.

Experience Required:

• Understand computer systems, switches, routers, and network troubleshooting.
• Be familiar with network hardware, network security and network data.
• Design, maintain, and implement hardware and software for computer network.
• Determine network requirements, create budgets, collect network data, and optimize network capability.
• Set up the physical network layout, including computer placement and server locations.
• Assist users in accessing the network and manage software compatibility.
• Troubleshoot network issues promptly and effectively.
• Understand network configurations, monitoring, diagnostics, security protocols, and data recovery.
• Explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and vendors.

• Security+ CompTia CE

• CCNA
• Microsoft or Cisco Certified Professional
