Software Engineer

City Brewing Company, a leading contract manufacturer in the beverage industry, has an immediate opening for a Senior Software Engineer at our La Crosse, WI facility. The Senior Software Engineer works with users and customers to envision, plan, design, code, test, document, implement and maintain purchased (like Körber Supply Chain Software HighJump) and custom developed applications (App and Web based). The applications create a better operational, user and customer experience enabling growth through simplicity while meeting business objectives. Typically work independently on complex projects of medium and large scope (multi-brewery). The Senior Software Engineer will act as a project leader and direct the work of others. This position will enable new applications and enhance legacy applications.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain applications, reports, interfaces and data collection processes.
- Work with Customers and Internal Users to Define/Evaluate Needs
- Develop Specifications
- Design/Code/Implement Custom Business Applications
- Assist with Software Evaluation and Make Recommendations for Acquisition/Implementation
- Coordinate Purchased Software Implementation
- Evaluate, Recommend, and Implement Business Application Upgrade
- Develop data auditing techniques with users to ensure data integrity.
- Use standard coding techniques, source control and change control.
- May act as project leader and direct the work of others Business Applications Support
- Coordinate system bugs/enhancement/upgrade requests with vendors and internal users assisting with specification, testing and implementation.
- Work with users to develop proper business procedures, standard practices and documentation to support efficient use of business applications.
- Troubleshooting Questions and Problems
- One week on call rotation
Communication:
- Communicate with the Purchasing, Accounting, Quality Assurance, maintenance departments, and all brewing customers as necessary, to accomplish all of the above.
- Communicate with vendors/suppliers to assure materials arrive when needed.
- Work with Brewing Department staff to increase Brewing Department efficiencies.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in IT-related filed Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or related field or 5 years of equivalent experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an IT role, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and end-user support
- ERP & Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) applications (HighJump & ERP preferred)
- Programming Skills
- Experience with .NET Core or similar object-oriented programming language
- Experience with Angular, React, or other JavaScript frameworks / libraries o Experience with Web APIs and (REST) based communication
- Technical expertise in building web applications and RESTful web services
- Analytical Skills
- Ability to Work with Internal/External Users to Translate Needs into System Solutions
- Planning and Tracking Ongoing Projects
- Troubleshooting
- Attention to Detail
- Written/Oral Communication Skills
- Ability to Present/Communicate System Specifications
- Communicate Project Status with team and leadership
