Small Engine Mechanic performs skilled work involved in the mechanical servicing, maintenance and repair of heavy construction, arbor and other type of equipment. The responsible party will also perform accurate parts allocation and warranty availability. Night Mechanic has responsibility of closing and securing facility.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES
• Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing; complete preventive maintenance such as: engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and, replacing filters etc.
• Maintain functional equipment condition by listening to operator complaints; conduct inspections and repair of: engine failures, mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; parts and components and any other damages
• Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjust controls and systems accordingly
• Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards
• Maintain equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
• Keep shop equipment operating by meeting the following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
• Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results
• Other duties as assigned
LICENSES + CERTIFICATIONS
TX Driver License Required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a small engine mechanic
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (all required to be done for up to 10 hours or more a day):
Required to stand, walk, bend, climb trees or use ladders and carry debris for extended periods of time in all types of weather conditions and in areas exposed to high vehicular and pedestrian traffic, dust and noise. Frequently required to lift and carry objects weighing more than 50 pounds across paved surfaces as well as rugged and uneven terrain. Required to be on-call in case of emergencies. Required to work at varying heights and within safe distances to electrical hazards with the possible danger of falling. Required to operate machinery and equipment with extreme caution, including hydraulic aerial lifts, wood chippers, stump grinders, winches, chainsaws, and handsaws. The employee must be physically coherent and aware at all times especially when dealing with heavy machinery, equipment or while driving.
