Commercial IT Systems Technician

TARGAN is looking for a motivated, results-driven Commercial Systems IT Technician to join our growing Commercial IT team. This hands-on role will support the installation, configuration and deployment of the industrial PC and edge devices that are deployed with our automated systems. This individual will coordinate deployment efforts with our cloud engineers and production build staff to verify system deployment from bare metal to cloud connectivity during the provisioning of new systems. These devices will enable our automated systems to connect and send data to our cloud for system monitoring and alerts. This position is located in our Raleigh office, but some travel may be required to assist with installation, commissioning or troubleshooting of deployed devices. This is an entry level position with the opportunity to learn and grow in a rapidly growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and configure hardware, software, and peripheral equipment following company standards and guidelines.
• Deploy system images/containers onto bare metal.
• Install system components (RAM, hard drives, etc).
• Prepare/update documentation, test plans, reports, and/or installation drawings as needed.
• Ensure devices are patched and updated per company standards.
• Implement security policies on edge devices in compliance with industry best practices and company standards.
• Assist Commercial IT staff with system testing, monitoring, and performance analysis to identify and help resolve system issues proactively, including stress, performance, reliability, and vulnerability tests.
• Assist with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) as needed.
• Stay up to date with the latest tech advancements as they relate to this role, and propose solutions for system improvements.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems, or related, with 2+ years industry experience, Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems with 1+ years industry experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Azure cloud technologies and tooling (DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Digital Twins, etc).
• Familiarity with Azure Edge IoT modules and deployments using Azure IoT Hub (device registration, provisioning, deployments).
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
• Understanding of LINUX based systems, including devices and drivers, filesystem, security configuration and patching, performance analysis, and system tuning.
• Experience with deploying containers on Linux or Windows edge devices is a plus.
• Relevant certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
• A+ / Network+ / Linux+ certifications with experience desired.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged hours consistent with the average workday to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, etc.
• Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl; must be able to move, transport, position, place, install, remove and/or replace various types of equipment; must be able to lift 50-70 lbs. unassisted.
