As our client continues to expand its presence in the Feed industry, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Category Manager to lead our Feed category team. This role will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic initiatives to drive growth, optimize profitability, and exceed customer expectations within the Feed category. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Senior Category Manager will oversee a team of Category Managers and specialists, providing mentorship, training, and ensuring accountability for achieving category objectives. The Senior Category Manager - Feed will play a critical role in driving the success and growth of the Company's Feed category, contributing to the company's strategic objectives and delivering superior value to customers in the feed industry.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Feed Category Leadership: Assume ownership of the Feed category and drive its growth and success within the company, developing and executing strategic plans to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and mentor a team of Category Managers and specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their capabilities and drive performance excellence.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop, communicate, and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Feed category, aligning with organizational goals and market trends to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Supplier Collaboration and Procurement Oversight: Oversee all feed-related procurement activities, ensuring efficient supplier collaborations, cost-effectiveness, and product quality to meet customer needs.
  • Profit Margin Optimization: Work diligently to maintain and enhance profit margins on all feed products, implementing pricing strategies and supplier negotiations to maximize economic returns.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure optimal inventory levels of feed products to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock and associated costs, leveraging data-driven insights and demand forecasting.
  • Market Insights and Customer Engagement: Stay informed about evolving market needs and trends within the feed industry through regular customer interactions and market research, enabling proactive adjustments to category strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage in effective and timely communication with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to ensure alignment and smooth operations within the Feed category.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the Feed category, implementing corrective actions, and driving overall performance enhancement to deliver exceptional value to customers.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulations, and ethical standards within the Feed category, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability within the team.
  • Other Duties: Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership, contributing to the overall success of the company's Feed category.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business, Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Feed category management, procurement, or related roles required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven leadership skills with a results-oriented and metrics-driven approach, particularly within the Feed industry.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members while holding them accountable for performance excellence.
  • Extensive experience in sourcing, procurement, and building strong relationships with feed suppliers and vendors.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computerized systems and data analytics tools for feed inventory management and performance analysis.
  • Strong strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel to company facilities, customer sites, and industry events as required.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
