Systems Technology & Research, Inc., is seeking an Aviation Airworthiness Analyst to support the Utility Helicopters (UH) branch of the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD). Successful candidate will cover a broad range of engineering dispositions which include, but not limited to; sustainment level repairs, major structural repairs, local fabrication of components, expanded damage limits, and deferred maintenance or clarification of published procedures. As part of the Maintenance Engineering Call (MEC) process, candidate must also determine if Units haves the experience, tooling, and facilities to perform the necessary repairs before authorizing the MEC. This position is a combination in-office and telework position based on needs of the customer. Position will require travel to support off-site stakeholder requirements.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Support the Army's process of airworthiness qualification to include engineering analysis, formal inspections, design reviews, safety assessments, contractor demonstrations, modeling and simulation, and contractor and Government qualification tests.
  • Address deviations from prescribed maintenance procedures and/or inspection criteria, processes, and/or procedures in the appropriate maintenance technical manual (hard copy and electronic media, all versions) for the end item.
  • Provide deviations for specific units and/or agencies, mission design series, and aircraft tail numbers or subsystem configuration Item identification and nomenclature, if applicable.
  • Direct maintenance personnel to record the deviation on DA Form 2408-15 (Historical Record for Aircraft).
  • Require a periodic review by utilizing units and the appropriate airworthiness authority to ensure that changes to existing maintenance procedures are not required.
  • Evaluate compliance to airworthiness standards.
  • Review and approve record documents and investigation closeout actions are documented in the approved information system.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure continuous improvement of the process, working with the customer as needed, and other duties as assigned by the Team Lead.


Required Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (technical preferred) from an accredited college with 10 years of direct experience or an equivalent amount of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge of the Systems Readiness Directorate airworthiness release process, MIL-HDBK-516, or the Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) IAW AR 70-62.
  • Experience and understanding of airworthiness qualification of Army aircraft systems.
  • Experience and understanding of Army Aviation maintenance programs and program management.
  • Technical background in UH/HH-60L/V/M helicopter systems, subsystems, and mission kits and their integration aspects.
  • Ability to work with specific government databases to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to analyze data and ensure correct data is captured.
  • Ability to review the completeness of records and approval.
  • Must have solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior Army Aviation operator or maintenance experience.
