Job Description

Challenge Machine and Manufacturing, a part of Assurance Manufacturing, is a small contract machine shop that serves the Semiconductor, Medical, and Aerospace industries. We machine a variety of smaller components made from exotic plastics and both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. We are 100% employee owned. We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Inspector for 1st shift.

Quality Inspector Responsibilities:

  • Conduct first article, in process, incoming, lot, and final inspections ensuring conformance to customer requirements.
  • Create vision system and CMM inspection programs.
  • Follow all ISO procedures.
  • Determine and communicate in-process inspection requirements when applicable.
  • Work closely with shop employees to ensure correct methods and procedures are being followed.
  • Communicate relevant or potential quality issues with shop employees and/or Quality Manager.
  • Aid shop employees in troubleshooting processes or product quality issues.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Review drawings and travelers for current revisions, missing features, missing operations, etc.
  • Identify, record, and control all non-conforming product.
  • Route non-conforming product for re-work/re-make.
  • Compile and organize any customer requested documentation. Including, but not limited to, Inspection Reports, Material Certifications, Certificates of Compliance, etc.
  • De-burr parts when needed using multiple methods including, but not limited to, hand de-burring, tumbling, ice blasting, soda blasting, etc.
  • Clean parts when needed using multiple methods including, but not limited to, alcohol, de-greasers, solvents, etc.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation.
  • Create pack lists and ship finished product using couriers, UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.
  • Manage and organize product inventory.
  • Assist in completing PPAPs for customers.
  • Crosstrain in other areas of the plant as necessary to meet production demands.
  • Perform required maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Make recommendations regarding safe working methods.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures to maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Comply with all sanitation regulations.
  • Perform other Duties as assigned.

Quality Inspector Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of general deburring experience.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes.
  • Previous experience working with ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 13485.
  • Practical experience with operating/programming of Vision Systems & CMM's. Programming ability preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic inspection tools and methods such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions, tolerances, proportions, and percentages.
  • Experience using and de-burring under a microscope.
  • Understanding of sampling plans.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to write routine reports and documentation.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and multitask.
  • Good organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong and positive work ethic.
  • Understanding of the Challenge Manufacturing Quality Policy and Objectives.
  • Good computer skills.
