Position Description
The primary mission of Goodman Community Center's in-house catering team (Good Works Community Catering) is to provide the highest possible food quality and customer service for events held by our community members. Additionally, the catering team helps to support the TEENworks program here at Goodman, where teens work with staff in a supported employment program to learn culinary skills necessary for employment in the food industry. This position manages the kitchen operations and kitchen staff, including TEENworks catering back of house staff.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in catering and/or banquet setting
- Minimum 2 years of management experience
- Must have a ServSafe Manager Level Certification or be able to obtain one within 60 days of employment
- Experience creating and scaling recipes
- Ability to work with and train diverse teens
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills: Outlook, Word, & Excel.
- Valid Driver's license and transportation.
- Ability to actively participate in kitchen operations for entire shifts; the ability to load and unload items up to 50lbs., move and place items in storage and work areas with or without assistance
Responsibilities
- Execute quality catering meal service for up to 300 guests.
- Prepare clear shift plans and instructions for BOH event staff
- Work with Hospitality and TEENworks management to provide training, supervision, and mentorship to teen staff in order to create excellent food, service, and to maintain cleaning standards.
- Support teens' ongoing success with prompt and constructive feedback.
- Work with Catering Assistant Chef to inventory, rotate, and order supplies for back of house operations.
- Maintain food cost at or below 28% of revenue costs.
- Maintain food safety standards and documentation.
- Foster a team environment between both the Catering FOH and TEENworks by always maintaining professional, respectful communication and collaboration.
- Provide backup support to our high-volume "Program Kitchen" when needed.
- Schedule teens and Catering Assistant Chef
- Attend weekly catering meeting and other meetings as required.

Preferences
- Associate Degree of Culinary Arts
- Experience working in an education or training setting
