Job Description

Sr. Production Engineer sought by

Metro Supply Chain (USA), Inc. in

Tracy, CA. 40 hrs./wk.

Duties:

  • Participate in business growth opportunities and implementation of continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing technology to improve cost of sales and productivity. Estimate costs or submit bids for engineering or continuous improvement projects. Introduction of new operational systems.
  • Oversee and support the manufacturing process for co-packaging department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to leadership and other departmental supports teams on technical, systems, or process related matters.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership to establish long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions required to achieve them.
  • Confer with Quality, Production, and Maintenance Manager to implement operation procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and/or provide technical information.
  • Product mix change (components/systems) and production schedule reprioritization.
  • Report and meet company KPI's and goals in relation to safety, quality and on-time delivery of products.
  • Supports Quality Control and Production Manager(s), ensures compliance with Quality Management System, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company procedures. Manage and assist in the coordination of effort between support departments.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate equipment failures or material difficulties to diagnose and recommend remedial actions.
  • Communicate issues that may impact delivery, quality or safety to Facility management team in timely manner.
  • Manage departmental and project budget(s) and provide analysis and reporting to Senior Management.
  • Responsibilities for supporting and assisting leadership in the training and counseling of their direct reports.
  • Responsible for leading project plan through the selection of equipment, building layout, commissioning, onboarding and into production.
  • Responsible for management of external technical contractors for building and production services. i.e. HVAC, rollup doors, compressors, etc. Inspect workers / contractors for unsafe or dangerous practices and coach on correct way to safely complete tasks.
  • Participate in Safety Meetings; investigate root cause and corrective actions for safety incidents. Flexibility to assume other jobs when work schedule necessitates movement of staff to other positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 25% International travel and/or domestic per year.

Min. Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent, and 5 plus years of experience in the job offered or related. Requires 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; 3 years of experience implementing capital projects; 2 years of experience or knowledge of robotics and/or automation; and 3 years of experience in evaluation of new formulas/products at varied development and batch time points including pilot/line trial, 1st production and ongoing production.

Wage is $125,000 – $138,000 annually.
