Approved through the Division of Developmental Disabilities, Alpine Learning Group's Adult Program has been providing quality services and support to individuals with autism throughout their adulthood since 2004. This unique program offers practical education and comprehensive day programming services designed to promote the skills necessary for our participants to lead productive and enjoyable lives. Goals are selected based on an individual's skill level, interests and lifestyle, and participants are taught new skills to improve integration into their communities and work environments.

Job Purpose: The Adult Program ABA Instructor is responsible for supervising and teaching learners as assigned at work, volunteer sites, the community, and in the Center.

Job Requirements & Skills:

  • Be of good moral character
  • Ability to successfully complete the Alpine Learning Group training program
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient with educational technology
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and needs
  • Maintain confidentiality

Job Duties:

  • Supervises assigned learners throughout the day
  • Implements instructional programs
  • Provides job coaching at Supported Employment/Volunteer sites
  • Conducts discrete trials
  • Performs chaining techniques in order to teach more complex tasks
  • Executes prompting (e.g., modeling, manual guidance, verbal)
  • Provides incidental teaching learning opportunities
  • Provides systematic desensitization exposures
  • Collects, summarizes, and reports data
  • Manages problem behaviors and implements behavior reduction programs
  • Reports emergencies and injuries as per ALG policies and procedures
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training sessions (including crisis intervention).
  • Recommends materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Carries out other duties as may be requested by the Clinical Supervisors
  • Contributes to the overall development of instructional and treatment programs

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with adult learners with disabilities (preferred)
  • Experience working with learners with autism (preferred)
  • Valid NJ driver's license

Clearances: DDD Criminal Background Fingerprint Check, Mantoux TB Test, CARI Check, Citizenship Status (I-9), Drug Screening, Motor Vehicle Check

Benefits: The Adult Program Instructor will be eligible for a variety of generous fringe benefits after a 90-day waiting period. They include Medical insurance with hospitalization and prescription card (choice of 3 plans), dental insurance with an option to purchase vision insurance, short term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, a retirement plan, and tuition reimbursement. The employee contributes a small percentage towards the medical and dental premium. The amount dependent on the plan selected.

Complementing Alpine’s student loan forgiveness benefit for full-time employees, Alpine Learning Group is recognized as a qualifying nonprofit organization under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This means Alpine employees can include their employment with us when applying for PSLF.
