Operational Excellence Technician

Job Summary

The Operational Excellence Technician plays a crucial role by supporting the Operational Excellence Engineers in the organizational transformation into world class excellence via continuous improvement tools, streamlining manufacturing processes ensuring that our products meet high standards of customer satisfaction. Ensures that processes needed for Safety, Quality and Delivery are created, implemented, and maintained; applies lean manufacturing tools to drive cost and performance improvements.

Minimum Job Requirements

• 2-year tech degree preferred. High School diploma or tech degree in process is acceptable.
• 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing related field preferred.
• Results based style with strong impact and influencing skills.
• Ability to use dimensional and electrical measurement tools including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gage, volt meters, etc.
• Ability to review and understand technical documentation including but not limited to technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Availability to work extended hours as needed.
• Excellent time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks as required.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Keen sense of accuracy with close attention to detail.
• High level of confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
• Good work ethic with a positive, productive approach.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office.

• Supports improvement projects within areas of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and process efficiency.
• Implements standard work process/procedures, visual factory, and error proofing mechanisms.
• Teams up with Operational Excellence Engineer and production supervisor to review process data from manufacturing such as parts per labor hour, productivity, scrap, or on-time-delivery and facilitates corrective and preventive actions as appropriate.
• Identifies opportunities on current work practices to improve the business and manufacturing processes.
• Supports Kaizen events to continuously improve the manufacturing efficiency, set up, layout and flow.
• Demonstrates performance excellence behaviors within the business and supports performance excellence initiatives. Supports the business in establishing "best practice" manufacturing techniques.
• Provides feedback regarding design processes to improve quality and reliability.
• Supports the resolution of quality issues, conducts root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions where necessary.
• Supports the qualification and validation of new parts/suppliers using form/fit/function or dimensional techniques.
• Supports as needed the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (ISO-9001:2015) by performing tasks including but not limited to: updating work instructions and other manufacturing documents, helping on conducting internal audits, coordinating the calibration of shop floor equipment, etc.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
