Job Description

Callen–Lorde is seeking an experienced facilities professional to oversee the services of our growing organization that has several medical clinics and administrative sites. In this role, the Director of Facility Operations will oversee all facilities operations services and maintenance, workplace environmental health & safety, regulatory compliance, and security. The Director of Facility Operations will ensure that all staff have a safe, clean, healthy and comfortable work environment. Additionally, the Director of Facility Operations will lead facilities relocation and expansion projects of considerable scope and complexity. In this role, the Director of Facility Operations will also manage relationships with external contractors and ensure all vendors institute effective systems for logging and tracking of needed inspections, maintenance schedules, and repair needs. The Director of Facility Operations will also take the lead in communicating timelines for resolution of problems with staff. Callen-Lorde is looking for a candidate that is dedicated to our mission, has strong project management experience and exceptional leadership skills to manage a small team of facilities/maintenance staff. Callen-Lorde’s main site in Chelsea is open Monday through Saturday. This is a full-time position, and the Director of Facilities Operations will generally work Monday through Friday. This position will include some early morning, evening, and occasional weekend hours when needed. What will you be doing in this role?

  • Oversee and manage an entire network of healthcare facilities (6)
  • Oversee facilities operation services and maintenance, workplace environmental health & safety, regulatory compliance, and security
  • Manage annual building operations and facilities budget
  • Lead our facilities relocation and expansion projects of considerable scope and complexity
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and ensure all vendors institute effective systems for logging and tracking all needed inspections, maintenance schedules, and repair needs, in a highly professional manner
  • Lead in communicating timelines for resolution of problems with in-house employees
  • Provide expertise in the alteration, maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical and electrical equipment therein and a variety of equipment essential to departmental operations
  • Inspect specific facility based projects and monitors progress, completion dates, financial impacts, and regulatory compliance with occupational standards, codes and specifications
  • Manage the organization's facility work order system
  • Coach and develop the facilities team to succeed and grow in their roles and responsibility

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, and/or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • 5+ years experience in project management preferred
  • 5+ years medical facility experience and/or familiarity with infection control guidelines preferred
  • Certificate of Fitness for Standpipe and Sprinkler preferred
  • Certificate of Fitness for Fire Safety Director preferred
  • Professional certification, affiliation, and/or membership(s) in the field of facilities management, Building Owners and Directors Association (BOMA), desired
