Job Description

Martha & Mary located in Poulsbo, WA is looking for someone to join our amazing team as a full time Facilities Technician/ Groundskeeper!

General Description

In response to our common charge of “bridging generations, enriching lives”, this job serves and cares for people in need by performing grounds maintenance on the campus as well as day-to-day repairs and pre-scheduled preventative maintenance to equipment and the building to ensure the physical environment is safe, functional, clean, attractive, and up to all local, state, and federal standards.

Wage:

This position pays from $19.18/hr. up to $22.59/hr. based off years of applicable experience as determined by the hiring manager and HR.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain physical structure of nursing home, child care centers, and retirement apartments.
  • Maintain building grounds including mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, weeding and ensuring they are free of garbage.
  • Build various structures for the use of the residents; i.e., benches, flower boxes and other carpentry work requiring use of various material such a wood, plaster, cement, nails, etc.
  • Perform plumbing repairs such as replace and unclog hair traps, unplug toilets, repair washer/dryer, replace broken pipes/water lines.
  • Maintain and replace electrical outlets, light bulbs, rewire or replace wiring in various equipment.
  • Install and/or fix electrical panels, sensors, motors, etc.
  • Remove furniture and clothing from rooms no longer occupied or assist residents to move to another room.
  • Fix and/or maintain HVAC system.
  • Install and check batteries of smoke alarms.
  • Organize and assist in fire drills. Check all extinguishers and assist Fire Marshal with inspections.
  • Replace windows.
  • Assist in the construction of any additions to the facility.
  • Perform various tasks required to maintain interior and exterior of a building, including painting or wallpapering.

Required Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Basic knowledge of and two-year experience in at least two of the following areas (i.e., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, HVAC, or painting) related to maintenance and repair.

License

Valid drivers license with good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have some or desired knowledge of HVAC, fire systems, boilers and chilling equipment, and most building wide mechanical equipment and support systems
  • Experience preferred in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, HVAC, or painting
  • Must be available to work a rotating on-call schedule
  • Must be available during emergency situations – including weekends and holidays
  • Must have experience with various power tools, drill, table saw and other hand tools
  • May be required to operate an automobile or heavy equipment
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
