We currently have a great opportunity available for an X-Ray Supervisor. This position is located at the Hill Imaging Center in Glendora, CA. Will provide coverage for our West Covina location on occasion. 

Pay Range: $31/hour - $35/hour

This position is Full-Time and has a 40 hours/week schedule (alternating Saturdays). The hours are variable and can range between 7:00am-4:00pm and 9:00am - 6:00pm. 

What You Will Do: 

Responsible for ensuring that their department staff are properly trained, providing excellent patient care, producing quality images, and following established policies and procedures. The X-Ray Supervisor also supports the operations team and radiologists with implementing and ensuring proper protocols for the X-Ray department.
Supervisory
  • Manages the X-Ray department in accordance with policies and procedures set by CMBS in conjunction with appropriated state and federal regulations.
  • Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures with the center manager and/or radiologist. Make recommendations for improvements. Follows company policies and guidelines.
  • Responsible for creating and updating protocols per radiologist instructions.
  • Maintains and implements quality and safety protocols regarding patient care, exam procedures and equipment throughout the department. Makes recommendations for improvement. Ensures that all staff follow the quality and safety guidelines for the department.
  • Participates in selecting and hiring of X-Ray technologists. Provides new-hire orientation and initial training for new technologists as well as ongoing in-service training for all department staff as deemed appropriate by regular analyses.
  • Assigns work and supervises daily operations of X-Ray areas. Acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures. Reviews schedules for complicated cases and reviews them with the radiologist.
  • Creates department schedule, which may involve rotation of staff to multiple facilities.
  • Ensures that X-Ray technologists complete required training courses.
  • Completes performance evaluations as well as written and verbal counseling of X-Ray technologists. When necessary, recommends disciplinary action with final approval at level of the Clinical Operations Director and Human Resources Director.
  • Ensures that equipment is maintained and operating properly. Orders supplies for the department. Documents malfunctions; schedules preventative maintenance, service, and annual physicist testing for the equipment as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ACR accreditation for department (if applicable).
  • Conducts safety trainings for department meetings (as requested).
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as required.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Must exercise good and sound judgment and plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Works closely with Radiologist and referring physicians.
Technologist
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area. Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physicians. Processes film. Checks X-rays for clarity of image, retaking when needed. Distributes X-rays to appropriate medical staff.
  • Maintains required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports. Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Complies with safety standards.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.

What You Will Bring: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience as X-ray technician, preferably in medical practice environment (preferred).
  • Associate’s degree in radiological technology from accredited X-ray technician program.
  • California Radiologic Technologist required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration required.
  • Fluoroscopy License
  • Expertise in at least one modality and willing to cross train for other areas.
  • Advanced computer skills a plus such as knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Candidate must have a strong work-ethic, and must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Dependability and provision of excellence in customer service to our physicians and patient care is a must.

Knowledge: 

  1. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
  2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.

Skills: 

  1. Skill in positioning patients properly.
  2. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  3. Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.   

Abilities: 

  1. Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required.
  2. Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.
  3. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.

The employee is normally required to stand six to eight hours per day.  This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged standing and regularly walk, stoop, bend, reach and required to lift up to 30 pounds. Involves frequent contact with patients. Interaction with other individuals is frequent. Work is performed in the X-Ray area.
