The Aleut Corporation will offer an entry Help Desk Technician position in our Anchorage Headquarters. This position is ideal for any shareholder or descendant interested in making a career in the technology industry. Fundamental to any technology career is gaining training and experience with our Corporate Technology Solutions, which include hardware (networks, laptops, etc.), applications (Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, and Cyber tools), and customer service. The position is designed to support the development of college students or graduates entering a technology field.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Entry Level Microsoft System Engineer and Help Desk Technician, you will:

  • Analyzes problems and provides technical assistance, support, and advice to end users for hardware, software, and systems.
  • Studies and resolves users' computer software and hardware problems.
  • Acts as a contact for users having problems using computer software, hardware, and operating systems.
  • Determines whether the problem is caused by hardware, software, or system.
  • Answers questions, applying knowledge of computer software, hardware, systems, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provided IT support to onsite and offsite corporate staff in the US (and OCONUS), including hardware, purchasing and installing software, and resolving accessibility issues on corporate and project office sites.
  • Respond to incoming help requests from users via phone, e-mail, and ticket tracking system promptly, concisely, and courteously.
  • Prioritize and schedule help requests. Escalate requests (when required) to the appropriate technician or team.
  • Document all information pertinent to help requests and their resolution.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Build rapport and proactively elicit problem details from users.
  • Manage laptops, including imaging, repair, distribution, and recovery/disposal.
  • Pack and mail equipment to end users
  • Onboarding and offboarding of end-user accounts and device management.
  • Accurately record and track hardware assets for inventory management purposes.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Provide remote support, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, installing anti-virus software, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Provide multi-function printer support, including management of the print server, drivers, and multi-function device supply inventory.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking and optimizing desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Write technical documentation for Knowledge Base to be shared internally or published externally to the user community.
  • Ensure that Internet security software is updated and running properly
  • Support Office 365 Configuration and Management

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Required High School Diploma with 2-4 years’ work experience.
  • Desired bachelor’s degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field desired

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Strong computer skills + Software experience
  • Strong understanding of Windows Operating Systems
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks accordingly

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available for standby assignments, work scheduled off-hours, and emergency overtime as required.
  • Must occasionally be available for additional work hours.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and annual background check.
