Software Engineer 2 (Hybrid - Remote, Utah/Idaho)

Deseret Digital Media (DDM) is seeking a Software Engineer II or III to join our technology team to collaboratively build and support KSL.com and Utah.com.

In a typical week, software engineers on this team develop and maintain features for KSL.com and Utah.com. They work with a team of product managers, graphic designers, and software and QA engineers to prioritize and build features.

The ideal candidate has experience working on high-traffic websites using Javascript, particularly using React or similar libraries. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills and an excitement to learn new skills and technologies.

Our company follows a hybrid work model, meaning you’ll be able to do most of your work from home, but we’ll still meet in-person occasionally for team meetings and fun events. That means you’ll need to live in Utah or Idaho to be eligible to work for us.

What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain modern web applications using front-end technologies, like React, Remix and Next.

• Collaborate with team-members to develop and maintain portions of KSL.com and Utah.com.

What you’ll bring:

• At least 2–5 years of experience with web software development technologies and tools

• Experience building modern front-end web applications with React, Vue or similar libraries and frameworks

• Experience with CSS and styling frameworks like Tailwind, Emotion, or Styled Components, among others

• Experience with and a strong understanding of Git tools like Github

• A desire to learn and share new and emerging technologies

• A strong ability to work collaboratively with team members, including software and QA engineers, product managers, and UX and graphic designers

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• A goal-oriented focus with high personal drive, integrity and energy

It’s a bonus if you have experience:

• Developing and maintaining high-traffic websites

• Writing unit tests and using code quality tools to maintain project quality

• Experience consuming versioned APIs in a variety of standards, like Rest, JSON:API, and GraphQL

• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
