Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for increasing online awareness, visibility, and engagement to advance the mission of Houston Food Bank. This position will coordinate with the Digital Marketing Strategist in planning, developing, implementing, and managing web-based communications to broaden the scope and reach of the Organization’s public digital presence. Primary responsibilities include writing, preparing digital assets for the Food Bank’s website and social media platforms; helping cross-departmental teams develop and evolve ideas to bring together goals, objectives, and needs; identifying new opportunities and aspire to increase brand awareness; writing/editing and/or reviewing all e-communications (e-newsletters, e-blasts, announcements, surveys); and support organizational photography and video.

Overall Digital Marketing

  1. Provide support in the implementation of overall digital marketing strategies using all necessary tools (e.g. website, emails, social media, and blogs).
  2. Research products, services, and current strategies to identify new opportunities.
  3. Liaise with Food Bank departments to optimize brand awareness and mission.
  4. Stay up-to-date with digital technology developments.
  5. Supports online fundraising initiatives including but not limited to Facebook Fundraisers.
  6. Monitors the digital landscape and provides suggestions for improvement.
  7. Collect metrics and data for ROI and KPI measurements.
  8. Manage third-party online platform profiles in support of brand awareness and donor stewardship. Additionally, lead content sourcing from leadership and other teams to ensure requirements are fulfilled on charity evaluator sites, such as Charity Navigator and GuideStar, and accurate data representation on sites such as Wikipedia and Google Business.

Social Media

  1. Represent the voice of Houston Food Bank online.
  2. Manage the social media for the organization including the primary platforms of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  3. Monitors Food Bank-related content on social media sites in support of HFB’s reputational management strategy.
  4. Build strong audience engagement through social media interaction as well as provide resource support and answers to common questions.
  5. Keep up-to-date with our audience’s preferences and proactively suggest new campaigns.
  6. Collaborate with Online Giving Coordinator to maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar.

Website

  1. Writes, designs, and maintains website utilizing a marketing conversion funneling method.
  2. Lends support around search engine optimization (SEO) strategy to increase traffic to the Food Bank site.
  3. Helps oversee and project manage annual website audit for continued site health

E-Communications

  1. Review, edit and/or provide content support for all e-communications to ensure strong brand representation.
  2. Support other Food Bank departments in their e-communication efforts including the implementation and management of content review processes and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of related experience (not including internships)
  • 2 years’ experience in all aspects of digital content development, and implementation required
  • Proficiency in and understanding of social media platforms required
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CMS required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven work experience in organizational social media creation and management
  • Fluency in website and social media curation and writing
  • Familiarity with website CMS: WordPress
  • Familiarity with web design including basic HTML skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Basic knowledge of Email Marketing techniques
  • Hands-on experience with online marketing tools and practices
  • Strong web/social media writing skills and in a variety of other contexts: must have portfolio/samples of work
