Job Description:

Position Overview: As a Digital Printer Operator, you will be responsible for operating digital printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials according to client specifications. Our company mainly works with graded, high-end comic books. Your role involves understanding printing processes, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring efficient production workflows. You'll work closely with the production team to meet deadlines and quality standards while adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operating Digital Printing Equipment:

   • Set up and operate digital printing presses according to job specifications.
   • Load paper, adjust settings, and monitor the printing process to ensure quality output.
   • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

2. Quality Control:

   • Inspect printed materials for defects and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards. Our most common product is completed comic books, which can be sent by our customers to grading afterwards. We maintain that we only sell a 9.6 graded level book or higher. 
   • Conduct color matching and calibration to ensure accurate color reproduction. We have multiple machines that we keep similar profiles to. Most of our books have skin colors on them that need to look realistic.
   • Monitor print output for consistency and make adjustments as needed to achieve desired results.

3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

   • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
   • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working condition.
   • Coordinate with maintenance technicians for repairs and servicing when necessary.

4. Production Management:

   • Coordinate with the production team to prioritize jobs and meet deadlines.
   • Monitor job queues and workflow schedules to ensure efficient production processes.
   • Communicate any delays or issues to supervisors or relevant team members.

5. Safety and Compliance:

   • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
   • Follow company policies and industry regulations related to printing operations.
   • Ensure proper handling and disposal of printing materials and waste according to environmental guidelines.

6. Documentation and Record-keeping:

   • Maintain accurate records of job orders, materials used, and production metrics.
   • Document any issues or discrepancies encountered during the printing process.
   • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvement to enhance efficiency and quality.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certification in printing technology is preferred.
• Proven experience operating digital printing equipment, preferably in a production environment.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of printing processes, color management, and quality control standards.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
