Job description

As a Digital Print Production Operator, you will be responsible for job setup and printing using our cut-sheet digital printers. You will be in charge of calibrating printers and color-matching projects against our client's Pantone colors / previous jobs. You will also manage the service and maintenance of the machines as needed.
This is an excellent position for someone interested in entering the industry and building a lasting career.
You will also be trained to assist our large format department in printing, production, and installation projects. Primary examples of projects that need assistance are vehicle graphics and wall mural projects that require a second installer.
The primary responsibility of the Digital Print Production Operator is to operate and complete all digital printing (B&W/Color) production for maximum production efficiency.

Digital Print Production Operator Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating digital commercial printers using Fiery Command Workstation.
  • Assisting in our large format department with installations & production work when available 
  • Responsible for imposing files for print & running USPS mail software
  • Works with Production Scheduler to prioritize and manage daily job production
  • Produces orders accurately, efficiently, and quickly while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Updates job status and location in MIS system
  • Always runs a proof copy and compares it to the work order
  • Controls waste and redos by quality-checking jobs as they are being produced
  • Completes Quality Assurance documents for all printed jobs
  • Tracks waste, spoilage, usage, and inventory for all digital printing machines
  • Maintains all Digital Printing Equipment logs
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment
  • Performs all required maintenance and learns extended maintenance from the technician.
  • Ensures that all service “clicks” are credited by the service technician in each call, including credit for poor-quality copies
  • Calibrates and manages all color devices as required to maintain color consistency.
  • Monitors color consistency during all print runs and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Digital Print Production Operator Qualifications

  • Digital printing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize several activities and tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, if needed.
  • Ability to maximize profit through the efficient use of time and equipment.
  • Can perform basic bindery functions.
  • Familiar and comfortable with Fiery Print Controller, a plus.
  • Is proficient with the use of Command Workstation (if applicable) to control digital workflow.
  • Graphic design skills are preferred but not required.
  • Customer service experience is preferred but not required.
