Exercise Science Faculty

The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Exercise Science faculty member teaches in all modes of delivery in undergraduate and graduate health sciences programs, and mentors students seeking a career in exercise science or pursuing graduate studies in areas of healthcare. Other responsibilities include assisting with curriculum development, working directly with healthcare faculty and practitioners for the purpose of interprofessional education, and developing reliable and valid assessment metrics that analyze student learning and program success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Teach courses within area of expertise.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
• Be a strong advocate for academic programs within the Health Sciences Division.
• Active involvement in the exercise science and healthcare professions as related to expertise.
• Participate in scholarly activities that strengthen contemporary expertise.
• Participate in service for the program, university, and profession.
• Assist program directors and coordinators with establishing and maintaining internship sites.
• Assist with annual program review and university assessment.
• Attend all required USM meetings and events.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Earned Master’s degree, preferred doctorate, in an area of study that complements health sciences programs.
• Academic teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
• If applicable, a licensed healthcare practitioner (or eligible for licensure) in Kansas.
• Possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
