Job Description

We are constantly expanding and as a result, our team is rapidly growing.

As the Procurement Manager, you will direct and coordinate all aspects of procurement from understanding market changes to negotiating contracts of chemicals, components, packaging, essential manufacturing equipment and general supplies. In addition to working closely with current vendors, this role is responsible for sourcing and evaluating new vendors.

The successful candidate will drive business results by overseeing the buying of products and supplies, overseeing vendor contracts and pricing, and delivering on established KPIs related to spend, savings, cycle times and other key metrics and scorecards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees sourcing and procurement of chemicals, packaging and other materials to support functions within the operations according to established guidelines.
  • Negotiates new and existing vendor contracts and pricing.
  • Build and maintain good business vendor relationships while seeking out new or alternative vendors as required.
  • Manage all inventory of materials, ensure product demand requirements are met as well as inventory turn targets.
  • Establish and maintain raw material inventory and regularly checking quantities to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare a monthly scorecard report by vendor of purchasing activity including: price deviations, quality problems, on-time deliveries, late deliveries, promotions and sales velocity, etc.
  • Onboards new suppliers and ensures compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors; respond to inquiries on any material received.
  • Process returned purchase items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.
  • Initiate and distribute change notices for purchased items such as changes in specifications, part numbers and sources.
  • Prepare an annual budget and plans to support company’s’ goals.
  • Communicate with shipping/receiving regarding incoming and outgoing shipments daily.
  • Communicate with vendor the need for promoting or returning slow moving inventory.
  • Administers requisition to pay processes in line with established process standards.
  • Monitors open purchase orders for on time delivery and timely closing of items.
  • Oversees and make recommendations on the phase-in of new products and phase-out of mature products. Support research and development from concept through commercialization.
  • Participates in cycle count program and all physical inventories as needed.
  • Ensure compliance to quality systems and accreditation programs for areas of responsibility.
  • Provide continuing assessment of business climate, market conditions, new technologies, products or services and other beneficial information impacting the supply of materials to assist in decision making and risk assessment and communicates disruptions to the supply chain that may impact sales and product delivery to stakeholders.
  • Ensure, by program, that only suppliers on the Approved Vendor List are used and that buyers adhere to this.
  • Maintain and update a list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
  • Oversee the management of supplier/vendor product cost, quality and delivery performance.
  • Expedite purchase orders and ensure suppliers deliver requested items within set time constraints and comply with internal quality standards.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of purchasing team to ensure effective performance of job duties against established KPIs.
  • Provide leadership to create an environment committed to quality, product safety, team member safety, and positive team member relations.
  • Monitor all materials to evaluate yields and product quality.
  • Secure vendor audits and perform them as needed with the Quality Unit.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Qualifications, Education & Preferred Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain logistics, accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • 5 years procurement experience in manufacturing purchasing and international supply chain.
  • 3-5 years experience purchasing in Chemical and Packaging required
  • SAP Experience required
  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail and uncompromising concern for quality and safety.
  • Strong mechanical, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mathematical and written and oral communication skills.
  • Well organized and self-directed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • High level of personal enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • Achievement oriented and a drive for results
  • Bilingual English & Spanish a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and strong computer skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and extended hours.
