Job Description

TITLE: Promise Neighborhoods Outreach Worker


REPORTS TO: Family Support Manager


BACKGROUND: For over 40 years, Urban Strategies, Inc. has assisted residents and community stakeholders to design and implement a wide range of place-based community and human development transformative projects in distressed U.S. communities. Our mission is all children and families will be stable and thriving.


JOB SUMMARY: The position will connect with and engage a targeted group of families and students from the Near Northside in Promise Neighborhood Initiative Family Support. The Outreach Worker will be responsible for planning and executing community events, sharing information with residents about the revitalization effort happening in the NNS and opportunities that are available to them. This could be done via community-wide events and activities, social media and public and resident meetings.


1. Assist with social media campaign about Promise Neighborhoods, distribution of flyers, newsletters, and mailings.

2. Assist in networking with other agencies and community groups.

3. Partner with Communications Specialist to maintain and update database of all families, stakeholders, etc. including establishing a text messaging and email distribution lists.

4. Support the PN Program with information gathering and the resident intake process. The Outreach Workers will also assist the Project Director and case management team with other tasks to advance equitable education opportunities for youth.

5. Represent USI and the PNI at meetings as requested.

8. The Outreach Worker will host regular community meetings, develop newsletters, and support the case managers and the project Director and will be responsible for coordinating meetings with families/parents to support evaluation, including organizing survey administration, focus groups, etc.

Qualifications:

1. Be a resident of the NNS, 63106 community, preferably a parent of a child attending the targeted schools.

2. High School Diploma and some college preferred.

2. Experience in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office software.

3. Ability and commitment to handle privileged information in a professional and confidential manner.

4. Availability to attend evening and weekend functions as required.

5. Possession of a valid driver’s license and availability of automobile for use at work.

6. Ability to function as a team player in both internal and external relationships.

7. Strong communication skills.
