Diesel Technician/Mechanic (Heavy Duty Truck)
Under general supervision of the Shop Manager, Diesel Technician/Mechanic will maintain and repair Heavy Trucks as they are brought to the facility. Diesel Technician /Mechanic will be proactive and be able to quickly assess the work to be performed with minimal supervision. Diesel Mechanic will be completely aware of all Heavy-Duty Truck systems and complete work on all of the features including hydraulics, pumps, hoses and other specialized equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Experience with electrical diagnostic and computer systems
· Advanced experience working on diesel engine components and operational mechanisms to repair/replace such as but not limited to:
o Air systems, ABS
o DEF, DPF, ERG systems
o Transmission, Engine, Clutch, and other associated parts
o All other chassis components
· Perform in-depth inspection using appropriate tools for Trucks in a short amount of time
· Maintain records of all trucks serviced
· Prepare quotes and work estimates
· Welding abilities for both ARC and MIG are a plus
· Performing assemblies and hardware installation such as circuit breakers, electrical panels
· Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications
Requirements:
· Two (2) years’ experience with heavy duty diesel trucks and professional electrical assembly
· Two (2) year’s minimum work experience working with hand tools
· Willing to adapt to new situations and challenges
· Must be able to read and follow manuals (parts lists, work instructions, etc.)
· Technical or advanced degree, certificate or diploma in diesel engines, electronics, and/or related systems or equivalent amount of experience
· High School Diploma or GED
· Successfully demonstrated problem solving skills
· Successfully demonstrated teamwork skills
· Successfully demonstrated welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials
· Provides own basic hand tools. Must have own basic mechanic tools (Wrenches up to 1½ “, Sockets of 1/4 , 3/8 and ½, screw drivers, plyers set, hammers, punches, tap and die set, etc.)
· Oil change & lube experience
· Vehicle Safety inspection experience
· Commitment and desire to learn medium & heavy-duty truck repair trade
· Basic diagnostic skills/experience with hydraulics, pumps, and other specialized equipment
· Technical understanding & attention to detail a must
· Strong verbal and documentation skills
· Basic computer skills
· Welding Skills are a huge plus
· Have or be able to get a Commercial Driver’s License
· Extensive knowledge in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines & power trains preference
