Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Report to work as scheduled and be accountable for communicating absences.
- Use & care of PPE. Know when, where, and how to use PPE including: respirators, fall restraints, paint suits, glasses/goggles/ and gloves.
- Familiarization of proper masking techniques and efficient use of masking materials
- Knowledge of basic aircraft terminology as it relates to aircraft painting.
- Knowledge and execution of sanding process including setup and use of sandpaper, flat sanding, hand sanding, scuff sanding, feather sanding, and familiarization with hard sanding.
- Basic care of sanding equipment and adherence to company tool program.
- Paint Single Stage and BCCC paint systems with high degree of success.
- Spot and correct minor defects (overspray, debris, small runs, etc.)
- Proficient at basic paint mixing.
- Reading and understanding paint drawings along with ability to utilize an AMM/IPC/SRM.
- Ability to understand and identify aircraft body stations as it relates to drawing directions.
Essential Tasks:
- Ability to stand, reach arms overhead, and wear respirator for long periods of time (8+ hours a day).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., use ladders of various sizes (2 ft – 14 ft), and climb in and out of lifts.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and storage of all personal PPE. Don and doff of PPE.
- Perform basic layout tasks including locating and sticking small/medium logos, pulling basic strait or curved lines by utilizing mylars, creating mylars to mirror livery, and installing all one-piece decals.
- Squeegeeing and ensuring proper adhesion of masking materials. Holding, breaking, & tearing tape cleanly.
- Identify fuselage, wings, horizontal stabilizer, engines, vertical stabilizer, landing gear, pitot static probes, static ports, AOA vanes, TAT probes.
- Identify jitterbug and DA sanders. Identify correct sandpaper and changer interval. Safely change sandpaper. Execute correct sanding technique.
- Properly connect sander to appropriate hoses on clayton system. Pneumatic tool oiling practices. Proper cleaning and storage of pneumatic sanding equipment.
- Successfully apply SS or BCCC paint to all areas of aircraft.
- Identifying appropriate leadership contact information. Ask questions intuitively. Note taking. Appropriate communication with trainer to complete training.
