Job Summary

AET is seeking a qualified laboratory technician to perform laboratory testing in accordance with AET QA Procedures and applicable standardized procedures. The primary location of this position is at an airfield in the Southwest Pacific. All of this takes place within the framework of achieving the company's goals and vision.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations or workable solutions may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Perform laboratory testing of bituminous mixtures, aggregates, and soils in conformance with AET QA procedures and standardized testing processes. 
  • Perform calibrations of laboratory equipment. 
  • Sample materials from sources.  
  • Work with project team and technicians to ensure project specifications are followed. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate technical and mechanical aptitude.  
  • Flexibility to work extended or nontraditional hours as needed. 
  • Prepare reports of laboratory work. 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • None.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in asphalt laboratory testing/asphalt construction inspection OR;
  • Two year engineering technical degree (or four year degree) with 1 year of experience with asphalt laboratory testing. 
  • Applicant must be a US citizen and capable of passing US security background checks. 
  • US military contract requirements do not allow non-US citizens.
  • Applicant must pass drug screen and driving record check.
  • Applicant must be willing to acquire all required vaccinations necessary for travel.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.   


Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to work outdoors and/or in a laboratory environment for a 10-hour day, 5 to 6 days a week.
