Summary of Position:

The Commercial Midstream Advisor for the Permian manages commercial activities within the Permian Basin for various midstream and commercial contracts including takeaway for natural gas, crude oil, and produced water. This position will work closely with Civitas Asset Development and Operations teams to develop, interpret, and communicate drilling and completions plans and production forecasts, as well as serve as the primary liaison with Civitas’s commercial midstream counterparties.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party midstream providers to ensure proper execution of Civitas’s production strategy in the Permian Basin, including on-time well connects;
  • Evaluate opportunities, model financials, and negotiate new midstream contracts for crude oil, wet gas, and produced water takeaway,
  • Manage internal communications around third-party scheduled maintenance, throughput impacts, capacity constraints, capacity expansions, etc.;
  • Serve as liaison between Civitas’s Permian Basin Assets and third-party midstream providers;
  • Lead and manage weekly, monthly and/or quarterly conference calls, meetings, and planning sessions with internal and external partners;
  • Represent Commercial Midstream in cross-functional efforts including but not limited to: annual budgeting efforts, drill site planning and development, monthly netback settlement review, recurring operations/financial review, etc.;
  • Assist Business Development, Corporate Reserves, and Asset Development teams, as necessary and requested, in the commercial evaluation of assets for acquisitions, divestitures, and trades;
  • Review physical assets, both third party and internal, to determine ways to optimize Civitas’s production and product netbacks;
  • Assist Civitas’s Operations and EHSR, as needed, to ensure cooperation from third-party service providers around all EHSR rules and regulations;
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and Civitas’s Mission, Vision and Values in all job aspects;

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of US onshore upstream and midstream businesses;
  • Strong understanding of midstream financials;
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple projects in parallel;
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skill set;
  • Ability and willingness to be available for Civitas Operations, as needed, at all times;
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivate.

Education & Experience:

  • University Degree in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business Administration from an accredited university or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Work is performed at a Civitas location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days Mon-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
  • Travel required to the Civitas field locations.

Base Pay Range: $168,000 - $187,700
