Engineering Manager

General Description:
Demonstrate the ability and experience of leading other engineers with a minimum of 10 years practical manufacturing engineering experience including CNC Machining and product assembly. This candidate must possess a working knowledge of process development, lean manufacturing techniques and a strong background in metal removal. The best qualified Engineering Manager will be a firearms enthusiast that is ambitious and self-reliant with a problem-solving focus and be able to function autonomously.
Reports to: CEO
Responsibilities:
Compliance
• Create and maintain engineering document libraries.
• Assure compliance to Gov't, OSHA, Customer and company requirements.
Technology & Standardization
• Establish and maintain engineering design and process gold standard libraries for all key processes and procedures.
• Develop a technology roadmap for processing, equipment, and automation.
• Simplification and standardization of company standards and specifications.
• Simplify and standardize manufacturing work instructions.
• Standardize engineering drawings, tolerances, and features.
• Standardize consumables, tooling, and number of suppliers.
• Standard tool holders - brand and type
• Standardize fixture design practices and approaches.
• Implement automated part clamping / holding.
• Streamline and simplify manufacturing processes.
• Implement quick change practices achieving SMED.
• Selection of equipment and processes reducing input time and improving quality.
• Implementation of automation in processing and inspection.
Engineering Team
• Establish team member goals, adherence tracking and accountability measures.
• Establish regular rhythm for team communications and reviews.
• Create development plans for team members.
• Maintain skills and training matrix.
• Implement engineering productivity tools and processes.
Product Costs
• Drive standardization of drawing features and components.
• Simplification and standardization of components used.
• Eliminate reduce discrete components.
Continuous Improvement
• Assure attainment to company roadmaps and goals.
• Achieve 6-sigma process control on all key and critical features.
• Achieve single minute part change overs.
• Implement mistake proof actions to eliminate non-conformances or escapes.
• Implement standard work models and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
• B.S. Degree in Engineering
Minimum Previous Experience:
• 10 years' experience with CNC machining and product assembly
• Must be able to work in a team, lead, plan, and execute.
• Strong time management skills; Must be able to handle multiple projects and important issues at one time.
• 5 years CAD/CAM
Minimum Additional Training:
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
