This position will Conduct research or perform investigation for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population.

Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water, and other sources. Assists in the compliance with Wayne County's NPDES Storm Water Permit. Qualified Candidates must have: • Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized college or university with a major in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, or the Physical, Chemical or Natural Sciences; AND • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time paid professional environmental technical experience, including work in or related to storm water regulatory compliance, environmental inspection, sampling, laboratory activities and public education/outreach; AND • A valid State of Michigan driver's license and an acceptable, safe driving record. *Equal Opportunity Employer: * Wayne County provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
