MP Materials is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Production Supervisor who will be responsible for building and leading a team of operators and technicians that will transform raw materials into finished rare earth magnets in our greenfield manufacturing facility. This is a rare opportunity to have an early role in the restoration of a critical manufacturing capability to the USA. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Supervisor with experience in leading and developing a large team of operators in a 24/7 industrial operation.


The new facility will contain a broad range of chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes. The Production Supervisor will plan and manage resources across all processes to meet the production schedule. Following start of production, the Production Supervisor will initially be assigned to a day shift working 4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 4 days off. Prior to the start of production, the Production Supervisor is expected to participate in off-site piloting activities to gain familiarity with the process. During this time some variation in shift details are expected, and travel will be required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Schedule and manage work of manufacturing operators to ensure on time completion of each step of the operation • Monitor labor efficiencies and redeploy labor as required to meet the production schedule.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to assure product yields and quality standards are met.
  • Manage operational performance to established KPI’s and identify and track other leading metrics.
  • Partner with Production Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify improvement opportunities, investigate process deviations, and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects (CIP) such as Kaizens.
  • Manage and train employees, including hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain production procedures and instructions, and ensure they are followed by all employees.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with quality management system.
  • Promote and provide a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, health and safety regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Participate in early piloting activities for new processes, on-site and at remote sites.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing and training Production team members.
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in Quality Systems ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949.
  • Hands-on approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Fluency in Spanish helpful.
  • ERP experience.
